Tips for making my own pattern?
Hi everyone. I've been to a meeting today and somebody I work with was wearing the most heavenly cape / jumper (shop bought). It had long sleeves like a jumper and was fitted around the body but was open at the front with diagonal seams from the hips up to the neck, with a wide neck band which crossed over and fastened with chunky buttons. I would knit it double so it help the shape at the front (it was very thick).

I am desperate to knit something similar but really not sure where to start. I can do the sleeves fine, but not sure where to start with the body / neck. Does anyone have any tips or any similar patterns I could use parts of?

Hm. I'm having a hard time picturing it (not that I'd be much help even if I could). Could you examine it more closely to see how it's made? Photos would probably be really helpful too, especially if you're looking for guidance from the folks here at KH.

Noro has a pattern that is done on the diagonal
with the verrigated yarn makes for a very nice look
hope this helps
I will try to find the pattern if I own it
if not
