Malabrigo Cable and Lace Scarf
I found the most beautiful pattern last night for a wide scarf. I really wanted to use my Malabrigo yarn with the pattern, but didn't want it to be as wide.

So, I've revised the pattern:

Dipsy's Cable-Lace-Scarf – Reworked with Malabrigo by Shandeh
Materials: 1 or 2 skeins (not sure yet) Malabrigo Yarn
Needles: US size 9 needles

Abbreviations:
k2tog: knit the next two stitches together
skp: slip one st knitwise, knit the next stitch, pass slipped stitch over
C6F: slip the next 3 stitches onto a cable needle and hold them in front of the work; knit the next 3 stitches; then knit the 3 stitches off the cable needle.
Yo: Yarn Over

Directions:
Cast on 27 stitches.
Row 1 (RS): K7, p3, k2tog, yo, p2, k2tog, yo, p4, K7
Row 2 and all even rows:
Work stitches as they show up: Purls are purled,
knit stitches are knit. Yarn-overs are purled.
Row 3: k7, p2, k2tog, yo, p2, k2tog, yo, p5, k7
Row 5: k1, C6F, p5, k2tog, yo, p6, C6F, k1
Row 7: k7, p4, k2tog, yo, p2, k2tog, yo, p3, k7
Row 9: k7, p3, k2tog, yo, p2, k2tog, yo, p4, k7
Row 11: k7, p2, k2tog, yo, p2, k2tog, yo, p5, k7
Row 13: k1, C6F, p4, yo, skp, p2, yo, skp, p3, C6F, k1
Row 15: k7, p5, yo, skp, p2, yo, skp, p2, k7
Row 17: k7, p6, yo, skp, p5, k7
Row 19: k7, p3, yo, skp, p2, yo, skp, p4, k7
Row 21: k1, C6F, p4, yo, skp, p2, yo, skp, p3, C6F, k1
Row 23: k7, p5, yo, skp, p2, yo, skp, p2, k7
Repeat rows 1 - 24 until desired length or you run out of yarn.

Here is the original pattern: http://www.millharrow.com/weblog/fro...=146&idsel=145

I started working on it this morning, and did the first set of 24 rows. I like how it's going so far!

After seeing your narrower cable and lace scarf, that is what I am doing for my sweet sil. That is, if my malabrigo comes in the mail today !

How wide is your cable-lace-cable pattern, and do you think just one skein of malabrigo will be enough ?

Juding by all the enthusiastic posts, I think you have started your very own knit-along !

Oh, I hope your yarn comes in soon!! It's so hard to wait for beautiful yarn, isn't it?

My scarf is 4 1/4 inches wide, but I'm a tight knitter. I think that one skein will be enough, but time will tell! I'm crossing my fingers that it will be. I probably won't put fringe on mine, because I'm not a big fan of fringe.

That is just beautiful!

I'm just concerned with how the back looks since scarves flop around..does it look okay?

That's beautiful! I love how you made it symmetrical -- that was the one thing I wasn't sure I liked about the original pattern.

It looks like the back of a scarf.

It's not too bad, really.
