Help with Diagonal dish cloth pattern please?
I tried a pattern at http://www.groovy-mom.com/crafty/pat...ishcloth.shtml

I started out fine and then realized it does not tell you to repeat the yo, k2 at the end of the row so that you end up with the hole and the border on both sides.
I made the pattern and it seemd to get wide way too fast and then narrow too fast again. It ended up diamond shaped and little.
Boo hoo.

I am planning to try again with this pattern in the morning.

Is it common to have to infer what you need to do with a pattern? The second pattern does not tell you to repeat either.

I bought two Leisure Arts booklets too. I am against the wall. The Color Splash Dishcloths book requires me to do a Slip 1, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch over. I can't seem to figure it out. I tried a few with the other book too. I have pulled out miles of yarn.

I have chosen to try to do the diagonal one for now instead until I can go to my knitters circle again. I just hope they will meet again soon.

I hope you don't mind my plea for help.

Every diagonal pattern I've seen only has the increase at the beginning of the row. Because you're working back and forth, you're alternating which side you do the increase on.

Thank you so much!

That will teach me to second guess.
If I learned to tat I'll learn to knit. Lol.
It takes me a bit of work to learn something new, but it is the work. I love to have a project.
Now if I could just knit in a hot bath.
Thank you!

The free patterns section of this site has a pattern for a basic dishcloth. Maybe it will help you. I have used it to make four dishcloths as gifts. It's a very simple pattern to follow.

I got it!
I finally got it down. I would not have thought learning to read a pattern would hang me up. I have made 4 now.
I'll go check out that other pattern.
I have a lot of these to get done by Christmas.
Thank you!
