Felted Rose Bag Pattern from Nicky Epstein's Knitted Flowers

I had the same problem. No one was able to help either. So what I finally did was decrease (yes even the oblong dropped stitches) and just took every row and analyzed it from a point in the previous row where I knew it was correct, then count backwards to get to the stitch where I could pick up the correct pattern sequence again. It might not be totally correct, but it looks okay and I don't think anyone would ever know there were problems with the pattern, especially since it will be felted. Now, I have to start the matching opposite side! Ugh, nothing like re-inventing the wheel. I would advise that anyone who is not an experienced knitter - Don't even try it! I love Nicky's designs, but it seems like I always have problems with them and when I get them done, I am exhausted!

Unless I'm dense.... They did not take into account that the decreases make the pattern rows obsolete.

I basically fake it till I make it. I look ahead to where the repete pattern fits and adjust the beggining and end rows as I see best. That may mean to not do a double wrap because its going to get knitted together .

Its a pain.

I figure when it gets stiched together it won't show .

I'm very surprised theres not more info available for this pattern .

ESPECIALLY when it graces the cover of her knitted flower book which I bought.


I finished side one and am working on side two. I started to knit it in the round but stopped when I ran into how I was going to handel the decreases.

the problem didn't get any better when I switched to straights.
