gauge trouble

I have a quick question about gauge...
I have the right # of stitches, but I'm one row short for my instructions. It is a lace pattern, so there will be stretching -- it's a shawl-collar jacket knitted in the round. Like a big doily with sleeves added on.
will I be okay, you think? I dunno what to do, since the # of stitches is exactly perfect.
Any suggestions?

In general, stitch gauge is more important than row gauge. And when you block out lace it opens up too, so you should be okay.

i was hoping somebody would say that! i was thinking to myself...
"instructions call for 4 sts & 9 rows per inch over garter stitch -- i've got 4 sts & 8-ish rows per inch -- #5 yarn, #10 needles -- it'll stretch a bit -- blocking will make all the difference"
so, thanks a bunch, and i'll keep my fingers crossed (except while i'm knittng!)
: )
