Double stranding sock yarn for pattern in worsted?

I have sock yarn (Sockotta, 45% cotton, 49 % Superwash & 15 % nylon)
that I want to use for socks for a two-year old. Unfortunately all the patterns I can find call for worsted weight. Does anyone have a toddler's sock pattern that calls for sock yarn or know of a way to convert? If not, can I use 2 strands throughout and use the worsted weight pattern?
