Has anybody here made Sally Melville's "Einstein Coat" using something other than the recommended wool/wool blend yarn? I'd LOVE to try to make my very first garment finally...this looks pretty straightforward--but it would be for my toddler (because it would go fast and I wouldn't get discouraged!), and I want it to be easily washable.
Have you read through the KAL thread? There might be suggestions for subs in there.
There is no right way to knit; there is no wrong way to knit. So if anybody kindly tells you that what you are doing is "wrong," don't take umbrage; they mean well. Smile submissively, and listen, keeping your disagreement on an entirely mental level. They may be right, in this particular case, and even if not, they may drop off pieces of information which will come in very handy if you file them away carefully in your brain for future reference. ~Elizabeth Zimmerman
I have the first three of Sally's books and I really like them. I did begin the Einstein coat for myself but I got bored with it a third of the way done. So I ended up ripping it out. I was using a wool blend.
