Whats the best way to sew on a pocket???

Nearly finished my second Nieces scarf - I have to sew on the pockets now though and I've never sewed knitting to knitting before.

The pockets are not as wide as the scarf so can't be joined at the sides, it needs to kind of sit flat on the scarf.

Any tips on the best way to do this? and what to use - the Yarn is 100% acrylic, and I have similar coloured cotton too.

Is the scarf in stockinette? I guess either way you can just line up the stitches so the edges are kind of folded in ( for a neat edge) and do it that way, sort of like seaming a garment.

Its in Garter, to seam them together what kind of sewing stitch would I need?

Blanket?

Hi Niffer,
I was going to ask the same question as you! How's this idea: place the pocket flat on the larger piece. Then use a contrasting colour to back-stitch (or maybe one of these: http://inaminuteago.com/stitchindex.html ) around the sides and bottom of the pocket, about 1-stitch in from the edges. (depends on the style you want)
