Jan, do you have a yahoo ID? You have to do that first to join yahoo groups.

The confusing part is why I joined the yahoo group as well.

Is there no Join Now! box? There's a message on their yahoo home page that reads:

MEMBERSHIP IS NOW CLOSED. YOU CAN ONLY JOIN BY INVITATION.
IF YOU WANT TO GET ON THE WAITING LIST,
WRITE TO knitbabysurprise-owner@yahoogroups.com

...which means that I barely made it in before they closed it. Or that they closed it because some foo' let me join.

Ohhhh that explains it. I will email her, thanks!
And....

ETA: I fixed my email address and she said she'd send me an invite so I'm in!

ETAA: I got the invite and am IN! I also finished the socks I was working on so now I will start the jacket. Anyone else doing it?

I've CO and started my BSJ. I'm using orphan balls of wool.. WOTA, Patons Classic Merino and whatever else I have around. It'll be a bright warm jacket!

Anyhoo..I'm on row 9 or 10 and ready for the first color change!

You rock.

The yarn that I'd planned to use is worsted weight. I'll pick up a lighter weight or wool today and a pair of size 5 circulars. Both my size 6s are on baby afghans, one of which I'd forgotten about until last week. It was hiding.

Tonight, I cast on! And not another project until something somewhere comes off its needles.

15 rows down! So far I've had no problems. I think it's cool how you can see the points for something forming. I have no idea what at this point. I'm trying to keep track of colors and stuff so I can see where they end up in the pattern later.

So far the colors... the reddish is actually a beautiful WOTA cranberry color. The multi is Patons Classic Wool in harvest. I'm felting the joins so there will little weaving in later.

I'm going to cast on now.

Yeah Ginger!

I'm up to row 23 or 24 now and have added some cream and a fern green.

I think the points are the lower front corners, though I'm not sure. Like the colors so far.

You'll be finished by this weekend!

I knitted four rows last night while J watched 24. That show bores me so. I awoke at 4:30 this morning and knitted four more while I watched the news with The Mo snuggled against me.

I predict that the entire jacket will be fun and satisfying to work on and that I'll want to make another right away. That's actually a good thing as I'm using up some acrylic for this one.
