Help with Increasing

I'm a new knitter and I'm using a pattern to make a hat and the pattern says:

Inc 1 st (i.e., K1, then K1 into the back loop of the same st)

I don't understand what it means by knitting into the back loop of the same stitch... does it mean the stitch I just knitted or what?

Help would be greatly appreciated!
