Hi.. I'm now in Sydney (moved down from North Coast).

misstialouise..I have to eyes are not seeing your av very that knitted piece on your hair bun or on your face? LOL I can't tell.

tarrentella.. I agree with mOnigrrl. I used to live in the Canberra area and it becomes mighty crisp there..and with wind chill, winter nights will sometimes be well below zero.

If visiting Sydney I would definitely go to Tapestry Craft in York St (they have an online site).

There are good yarn shops in Canberra also.

I've had friends knit from Bendigo Mills products who have been very happy with them and they do a quick postal service. I believe if you join they send you a card of various yarns they have for your selection.

I live in Perth, Western Australia. I grew up here, moved to USA as a teenager and now I'm married and back in Perth. I've met lots of knitting fiends (and friends!) since moving here.

It's nice to know there's help close by!

I'm from Brisbane. Actually one of the craft stores listed below is very local to me but I've always been too intimidated to talk wool there - I also cross stitch and when I picked up some threads the lady serving refused to help me!

I'm very keen to meet new knitters - especially as my only company is my 16 month old son who likes to "play" with my knitting.

Wow... we've had a bit of activity here that I hadn't noticed. Cool. First, Susan P. thanks for those links, there is one near me in Brisbane that I'll have to check out, and a couple up near my folks on the coast that I'll have to check out

Welcome AussieYank and Taiche And it's good to see you back Misstialouise

Cheezelkat - Hi and where in Brisbane are you. I completely understand the 16 month old thing, my daughter is 3 in July she loves to try and knit and I'm expecting another in late October.

misstialouise.. you buy from Tapestry Craft very often? When I lived on the north coast I divided between TC and two local stores but now that I'm here i am fairly TC dependent although they don't sell 100% cotton yarn which I want to start using. Where are you? I'm currently staying in Waterloo.

I've been encouraging TC to start an Aussie specific forum by the way. I love knittinghelp and it's forum and couldn't do without the expert advice here. At the same time I rarely know the yarns people are discussing and I'd like to at least talk amongst aussies about that.
