Baby info needed
Hey everyone I want to knit a pair of socks for my 2nd cousin baby Xavier Lee. I was wondering if anyone has a four month old baby and if so can they measure the foot for me and the ankle circumference? I made socks but they look way to big and it said it was for a 3-6 month old baby but it is 7 inches long Unless this baby came from sasquatch then...

We could learn a lot from crayons:some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names,
and all are different colors....
but they all exist very nicely in the same box.

No babies anymore around here, but maybe this will help. Remember that the baby can grow into them as well.

This may come in handy later if you want to knit other things for babies.

My DD just turned 6 months old...

Her feet are about 4.25 - 4.5 inches long. She's sleeping right now, so I wouldn't be able to get an accurate measurement around her ankles since she's in her pajamas.

I'll measure around her ankles later and let you know.

Jan Thank you so much for the links and Lisa thanks for measuring your baby for me even when she was sleeping I'll be looking out for her ankle measurement. Thanks ooo much Oh and am I wrong or does 7 inches seem way to long? Well if they are I plan on making a smaller pair and then sending both pairs I mean like Jan said babys grow!

Based on the measurement chart I linked to 7 inches is appx the size for an 8-10 yr old.

Just curious how you ended up with it so much larger?

It was much easier to measure DD's feet when she was sleeping, even if she was in her pajamas...Trying to do it when she's awake has been pretty amusing because her favorite thing to do is to kick her feet!

So at 6 months old, her ankles are about 5 inches around, and her feet are about 4.25 - 4.5 inches long. Of course babies come in a wide variety of sizes, but at least that should give you a ballpark idea of what you need.

Hope that helps, and sorry it took me a couple days to get back to you. What pattern are you using? If the whole sock was 7 inches long, that would probably be about right. But if just the bottom of the foot is 7 inches long, that would be a pretty big baby!
