Beanie sizing question

Anyone know the protocols on the height of a beanie for a man's large head? The man I'm making the hat for has a head circumference is about 23"-24". Mine is about the same size, but I'm concerned that his head may be higher or shorter than mine, and am wary about using my head measurement as indicative of his.
