Gauge Question
When making a gauge swatch, do you only need to do the knits and purls or should you try the harder stitches as well? I mean, will it matter if you're doing a cable sweater or something? Should you make a small swatch of the cables too?

Usually the pattern will tell you in what stitch the gauge was measured. Many will give you a stockinette stitch gauge, and some will give you the gauge in the pattern stitch.

Ah Many thanks! Guess I'm going to have to learn to read directions! I HATE directions.
