Shrug help
Hello all -- I really like this shrug pattern, and it looks like it will knit up quickly. I am a bit confused on one bit, though. It begins by knitting in the round and then goes into flat knitting: "Now begin working flat (row knitting) but stay in garter stitch". How do you take a joined piece of in the round knitting and then begin knitting it flat?

I've put the link in here to the pattern, hoping that will be helpful. Thanks all!

When you get to the place where you have to knit flat, just turn your needles and knit back--this time knitting every row for garter stitch.

I'm so sorry - I can't envision it. I just don't see how I can turn a tube into a flat piece.

It's simpler than you think.

You're working around and around, right? Now when you get to the end of the round, stop, switch the needles in your hands. The working yarn will be on the left needle, and the cord from the cable will toward you. Purl or knit from the left needle to the right the way you normally would and you will have started your first row of working back and forth.

Hmmm..... a germ of the image is forming -- I think I might be able to just quit thinking about it and do it. Thank you, I'll let you know how it turns out!
