Ah yes and so she returns complaining
So sorry for my long absence. I am one of those 'saa' she's here 'saa' she's gone people. Meh. my life is left right up down over accross and sometimes potatoe y'know?

But yeah. Knitting. Meh. in a slump to the max. No new yarn in ages, had to resort to knitting up that disgusting abomination of a yarn Lion Brand Homespun. I want you all to heed my warning. You need ungodly amounts of patience to work with this yarn for more than five milleseconds. I mean it knits up FABULOUSLY. It makes a perfect scarf yarn in my opinion. But you know what? After 4 stitches, I want to shoot myself in the FREAKING FACE. I HATE this yarn.

I want to go to JoAnn SO BAD. lol. Anyways, Hi all. I missed being able to knitting knerd-out with everyone :D

I'll make everyone a deal. Since I'm one of the four people on the planet who actually likes using the DISGUSTING HORRIBLE DEMON YARN known as Lion Brand Homespun, you can all mail yours to me.

Hmmm, I was looking at some of this yarn the other day and thought it looked pretty cool. What's wrong with it?

You might want to give it a try Mason. There are plenty of people who actually love it. I would guess that there are even lots of people here who are closeted home spun lovers because of all the loathing they see from people here.

Personally, I just can't stand the feel of it. There is something about it that just doesn't feel right to me. I don't know what it is though. I had bought a LOT of it when i first started knitting though because i was going to make a big fuzzy afghan out of it. then i realized i don't like knitting afghans and it got shoved into the stash. Not long ago I decided to pull it back out and try the afghan thing again. When i stuck my fingers into the skein to pull out the end it actually ripped out in my hands. It just shredded. And i still hated the feel of it. (it almost feels like some weird coating to me but i can't pinpoint it) Soooo I freecycled it to a very happy group that knits for hospice. win win... it is out of my stash and it can comfort people who need it way more than I do!

I bought some when I first started knitting (cause they do have some great colors) but found that it was bunching up more and more as I went along. It may have been me, but I finally just tossed it cause I had a knitted piece in one hand and a big gob of excess yarn working its way down the working yarn.

I really like Homespun. I don't know why so many people have a problem with it.

I love the colors and it's nice and soft, but I find it hard to knit with.

That aside, one of my biggest complaints about Homespun or ANY yarn like it (boucle, fancy fur, etc) is that you can't see see the stitches. I learned to knit because I like seeing all the pretty stitch detail. I enjoy knitting, but it's too much work to knit something up and then you can't see any pattern to it. If you are going to use one of these you might as well crochet.

NOW before you get all upset..there is nothing wrong with crochet. I crocheted for years. Crochet stitches are heavier and bulkier and and tend to look a lot alike. You can't do stockinette, seed or ribbing easily if at all. The stitches are also usually bigger which is why there are more crocheted afghans than knitted ones. Crochet is faster.

Sorry...back to your regularly scheduled knitting be it with a nice worsted or homespun...Knit with what you love no matter what anyone says.

Im glad I only bought two skeins of this stuff after reading this thread. Ill still try it of course, but I can see how it would be difficult to use. I could always give it to my mom if I hate it ...

I got three things of fun fur from the future mother in law for xmas.. HATE IT... so if this is similar in any way, I shall hate it too.
