The same thing you'd use a sponge or dishcloth for. Wiping counters, soaking up spills, washing dishes. Only thing I don't suggest you do is use them to scrub the sink. The cleanser destroyed a couple of mine.

Don't be embarrassed. A lot of people think we are nuts to knit them when you can buy them so cheaply, but they are a quick, fun knit and you can test lots of patterns.

I just recently heard people on this forum talking about dishcloths, and I was going to ask, but then I found this forum............so, you really knit dishcloths? What type of yarn do you use?

Yep! Give it a try. If you don't like them you can always use them as dustcloths.

Cotton is the most common fiber to use. Artlady swears by microfiber (Microspun) and I'm testing it now.
Here's a whole thread about fibers.

Phew!!! Thanks for asking Letah. I've always wondered if their name was 100% synonymous with their use. I'm glad I'm not the only one!!

My mom was begging me to knit dishcloths when I first started knitting. I like to knit them so I can practice different patterns. They make great gifts too!
