1st Cable Pattern?

I'm looking for suggestions for a pattern to try the first time I attempt cables. I really liked the picture on the cover of the current issue of Knit Simple...it was a little cable purse. I was thinking of trying that, unless anyone else has some suggestions!

I did these as my second cabeling project and loved them...quick knit and actually quite usefull. I wear them quite a bit

I agree with the scarf I have been wanting to do that one. Its super cute and really easy.
