I don't think so. I am having problems with my hands hurting so I may just stick in another plain garter section so there is less purling. ;-) Generally you need some plain sections anyway to make the detailed sections really stand out. No?

Oh boy...I just had to insert a lifeline into a destination row about an inch back due to a glaring mistake that I could not leave in.

While I had the needles out I took the time to measure the blanket's width. Holy crap! It's about 7ft wide not stretched.

Soooo I think if we do this again you could lop off a good 100 CO stitches and it will be plenty wide.

The needles are back in and all is well.. moving forward..

Ack!! I'm glad you rescued it.
7 ft wide? that's the kind of knitting that feels like you're not making progress.
I'm thinking about fancy stitches- what could I do for 7 feet and 3 inches?

Should we modify? We could make it that it is 7 ft long, as in we are now knitting from side to side not top to bottom. Or am I wrong and it's supposed to be that wide???:scratchinghead:

I was thinking the same thing, but if everyone left adds another 3 in that's another 4 ft. I think it's already close to 3 ft so it'll be somewhere in the neighborhood of over 7ft square. And that's w/o Shandeh's finishing section and the border.

Now we know for next time.

Jan, I think the blanket will be fine as it is. 300 stitches with worsted weight yarn should be about 5 or 6 feet wide. I guess that some of our knitters have been knitting loosely. No biggie. We'll leave it as it is.

My plan is to have the blanket be about 6 feet by 8 feet. If it's bigger than that, it's okay. It will still be appreciated.

All the sections are even, Sandy. It's not just a few loose knitters. I was just thinking smaller would faster and more practical in future versions should we do it. This thing is getting pretty heavy already.
