Thanks Jan! I really appreciate the input, since I can't be there personally to check it out.
Maybe I'll consider making all the current Oddball Blanket sideways instead, and move some of the knitters to a new blanket.
If you don't mind, put the stitches on a long thread, and lay it on your bed and take a photo for me. That will help us make our final decision.

I should have thought of that before I put the needles back in! I'll do it when I'm done with my section and have put the lifeline back in. Should be in a few days. I've got a couple inches already.

I guess whether it is too wide or not depends on what we want the recipient to be able to do with it. A full size bed is approximately 5 feet across, so if we want them to be able to use it on their bed, then 7 feet doesn't seem to big. I understand the weight issue though, so iI don't know.

I really like the size of it. Big enough for someone to cuddle under with their kids or something.

Yeah, my intention is for the recipients to use them on a full size or queen size bed as a blanket to keep them warm while they sleep at night. So, we'll see how it looks when you're done Jan.
Another Oddball Blanket was photographed spread out on two needles, and layed across the foot of a bed. I'll see if I can find that and post it here for comparison.

That's the same blanket, Sandy. It's just not stretched out quite as far. If you all like it that big then that is fine. I know from my stepmom donating blankets that sometimes homeless people get them, too. I was just thinking of how large this thing will be, but it could be doubled, too.

Thanks Jan. We are planning on giving them to a specific charity in the end, but we don't know which one yet. I'm hoping they will be used for a needy family that lives in a cold region. We've also been discussing using them for a battered women's shelter. We'll take votes in the end, and decide for sure where they will end up.
