OT..has anyone seen the move the departed?

I really like jack nicholson but this movies title has me a little worried to watch, lost my husband to suicide just over 2 years ago(it's ok, I am not looking for sympathy) I just need someone to kind of pre screen any movies I think I want to watch , being taken by surprise is upsetting.
My 2 sons are in Afghanistan so I am hoping someone here can help, any regular death scenes I can deal with..Is it safe for me to watch

There are a lot of murders in it. It is basically a mob movie.

DH got this movie for me for Valentines Day. We're supposedly going to watch it today; I love mob movies!!!

There are a couple of beatings if I remember correctly and quite a few murders. It's a great movie however, even if I am a little biased because of being from Boston.

It's actually a remake of a movie made in hong kong several years ago called infernal affairs--- not sure why the director is getting so many possible awards- all he did was copy the original, down to the fact that some lines are *exactly* the same....

Haven't watched it, but I absolutely love the original. Made me sad that someone thought it needed to be remade.

If it follows the original storyline, then you can definitely expect many gruesome deaths.
