Decreasing every fourth round....
If a pattern calls for decreasing as stich every fourth round, do you count the decreasing row as the first of four rounds? you would:
1st row: decreasing row
2nd row: regular knitting
3rd row: regular knitting
4th row: decreasing row (also counts as the first row ....)
OR
1st row: decreasing row
2nd row: knitting row
3rd row: knitting row
4th row: Knitting
1st row: decreasing row etc...

I'm all looped up on this!

I do:

1st row: knitting row
2nd row: knitting row
3rd row: knitting row
4th row: decreasing row
1st row: knitting row etc...

Unless it says on the NEXT and every fourth after, I do my decrease on row 4, not row 1. But either way you choose, definitely don't do:
1st row: decreasing row
2nd row: regular knitting
3rd row: regular knitting
4th row: decreasing row (also counts as the first row ....)

That's decreasing every third row.

Good luck!

Thank you!

when I typed out my question I realized how silly option one was...counting rows often throws me. When I was pregnant I always mis counted the month I was in...do I count the first month I got pregnant or not? I still cant remember the answer to that question either!!!

The 2nd strategy is the one I use. Just think of there being only 1 row that contains a decrease in every 4 rows (including itself).

The first strategy would work, but might end up with a greater decrease than you wanted.

Cheers,

Landolphe

You do the decrease row, then the 4th row after that and the 4th row after that... So if the dec row is R1, then you dec on row 5, 9, 13, etc...
