need help again - the saga continues

Here's what I decided to do for the bag handle - A braided leather cord attached to the bag with D rings. My conundrum is that when I see this in my mind it looks good except for all the little ends of the cords that I had to cut off when I knotted it. anyone have a suggestion on how to make it look a little better?

can you make a little swatch, felt it up and then wrap that around the point where all the little ends are? like a little collar? then you could stitch it in place...
