Help with finishing my 1st hat...........

Hi..I'm knitting a hat with circular needles and I'm near the top and need to transfer to double pointed needles.....When I slip the loops of knitting onto the dbl pt needles....how do I continue knitting to finish the hat?? Do I use a straight needle to finish?? Thanks!

You don't have to slip the stitches, just use one of the dpns to knit with instead of the other end of the circ. Knit about 1/3 of the stitches on it, then take the 2nd dpn and do the same, etc. Continue in pattern doing the decreases as you have been. At some point, when you reach 9-12 stitches the pattern should say something like `cut your yarn and thread them through the remaining stitches'. You do that and pull the yarn end (leave about an 8" tail) tight and it acts like a drawstring to close up the top of the hat.

You'll need 4 dpns. Just start knitting with a dpn. When you get about 1/3 of the stitches on that needle, start with the next dpn and when you have 1/3 of the stitches on that one, start with the third one. You use the 4th to knit around the needles decreasing when necessary.
