I'm going to be brave... but I need help!

Ok, so I've been knitting for a year or two now but *GASP! Shock horror!!!* I have NEVER knitted a sweater!! That's right.... I admit it! I have never knitted a sweater. *please don't shoot me*

So all of a sudden I decided I was going to work up the courage and knit my first sweater. "I'll start with something easy", I thought to myself. "Hmmm... maybe a baby sweater for the upcoming arrival", I then thought.

soooo.. can you help me? A good SIMPLE pattern for a baby sweater knitted in the round, please! Pretty please... Searching google is proving fruitless. *sigh*

Help me be brave and take that next step.. and boldly go where I've never gone before. And I will forever be in your debt

*sigh* I'm confused already. I just don't think I can do this... I've looked at all the patterns, but they all look like they are knitted straight. I was really hoping to do one on circulars in the round (to avoid having to seam anything).

I think I'm doomed never to be able to understand the complexities of a sweater. :(

ETA: And I have NO clue how to convert a flat knitting pattern to circular. :( I've never done a sweater at all, let alone converted a pattern. *sigh*

These patterns are knit from the top down and the only seaming you might have to do is the sleeves. And you could knit them on circs or dpns. Pullovers are tough to put on babies, with a cardigan you just jam their little arms in the sleeves and it's on.

Even though they aren't done in the round they are still seamless. If you want a completely done in the round sweater look for "top down" patterns. You CAN do this! I knit my first top down sweater when I had only knitted 3 mos. It's much easier than you think.

I've been knitting on and off for the last 6 years and am only now attempting my first sweater...

It is almost done though *happy dance*

Not as scary as you think, just time consuming as mine is for my husband. It's been a WIP for a few months now. By the time it's done it will be too warm for him to wear :P

I just used this pattern for the tiny sweater I made--I just used smaller needles and yarn. It really is a simple pattern. I knit the sleeves in the round, too--there wasn't a seam to sew except for a few stitches in the armpit.
