My Bootie needs help!

Maybe I'm a caveman - but sometimes even the most simple pattern can
leave me scratching my head. I'm hoping someone can explain this to me
so I can get a "visual".

Okay, starting where the pattern says "Loosely" in bold regarding picking
up stitches along the instep. When it speaks of wraping the working yarn around the 12th stitch.., ducking the needle under the working yarn to weave it in..HUH?

I'm sure I'm making this out to be more difficult than it actually is, but until they make knitting patterns with little pictures of each step - I will be forced to show my ignorance on this forum.

I made these, but I don't remember even doing that part. Not sure if I just blew it off or what, but there is no loose thread in mine so..

I'd have to make them again to understand why the working yarn is done that way, but I do know that by dipping the needle under the yarn and over the yarn alternately you will be securing a loose yarn. That's how you do it in fair isle so you don't get long loops.

ETA: My DH was looking over my shoulder while I was looking at the pattern (don't you hate that!)..anyway, he had a confused look on his face and said the pattern just looked like Cyrillic to him. Maybe we could use patterns as code so the guys won't know what we are talking about!

If your DH is anything like my BF, then they usually don't know what
we're talking about anyway!

This can't be any harder to figure out than the gloves I made, so I'm thinkin' I'll just wing it. I'll just do 'em like I do socks.

Thanks for your input - I'm so glad I found this forum. I'm a self taught
knitter, and don't know anyone else that does. People like you help me
