Dividing for raglan increases

Several questions..

I'm taking a baby cardigan pattern and changing the top part to include raglan increases rather than a yoke. If I CO 50 stitches and the lap for the front is 4 stitches on either side at what point do I put the markers? Is there some sort of formula for figuring this out? Not that I'm any good with math here..

Also.. I remember from a sweater I did before that I had 4 markers..do I increase on each side of the marker? So there would be 8 increases per increase row?

There are 8 increases per row. You can check out the raglan pattern generator at www.knittingfool.com . That may have some guidance.

Well those didn't really help as far as WHERE to put them. I figure the back should have a few more stitches than the front no?

Maybe I'll take it off the needles and fold it in half and see what a I get. :thinking:

When I made the top down raglan of the anthropologie sweater, small size (for the doll), I had cast on 28, and after I did enough ribbing, I did the following for front 1, sleeve 1, back, sleeve 2, and front 2:
k2, p2, yo, pm, p1, yo, p4, yo, pm, p1, yo, p8, yo, pm, p1, yo, p4, yo, pm, p1, yo, p3, k2.


So, the back had about 2x the amount for each sleeve and each front.

Interesting, Susan. :thinking: Still doesn't quite give me what I need, but it does mention EZ's percentage system..maybe that is what I need. :thinking:

And this mod has only been knitting for 18mos or so so I often have questions.
