Is it too pink?

Hello everyone!

I just did one bootee for a baby boy, and realized suddenly that... it is a bit too "pinky". Well, maybe... I am not really sure. The color is more like purple, but who knows...

Thus, I would like to have your honest advice... maybe I should change color before doing the second one

Well, I'm one who would never put pink on a baby boy. I don't have a problem with a pink t-shirt/polo for a toddler/preschooler and up, but babies tend to often keep you guessing as to the sex and I feel that pink being thought of as a girl color would make most people think the child was a girl. Might just be me though.

It's a cute bootie though!

Well...I think it is adorable. I'm sure if the booties do turn out to be a little pinkish (looks more berry-ish to me), he probably won't turn into a girl for wearing the booties!

After 4 kids (2 boys, 2 girls) I really don't care what color they wear if someone takes the time and love to hand-make them something. This guy's parents (especially if they're first-timers) may not want to put them on him in public, though. Not because they'll make him girlie, but because strangers might mix up his gender.
So, even though I'm sure the parents will appreciate any gift you give them, if you want your wonderful handiwork to be shown off, you should switch colors. Those yellow stripes would go nice with blue.

Hate to say it, but, for a boy, it's a little bit too pink. Maybe try again in a non pink color?

It depends on the parents. Not are they too pink for a baby boy, he won't care. Are they too pink for parents of a baby boy?... well you know them we don't... but I have been told that pink used to be the colour for boys, and blue was for baby girls... at some point in the last, um, 80-150 years or something it got changed now girls-pink, boys-blue.

I tend to agree with redwitch. It really comes down to the parents. I would have NO issue myself with it but may get tired of people telling me what a lovely little girl I have! :-) But they are lovely warm booties for sure.

Personally, I'd think it was a little too pink-ish for a boy. But I'm really picky about that sort of thing, not all parents are. Its a super-cute bootie, though, and you did a great job on it!!

What if you knit a blue/yellow pair for the baby boy, and knit another pink/yellow one, so you had a pair, and just put it aside, for the next time someone around you has a girl?

It's a very cute bootie, though! They look easy to get on and off littel squirmy feet!
