Purl stitch, yarnover, then knit stitch
A section of my pattern reads "P1, YO, K1". I keep thinking that this ought to be simple for me to figure out, but I'm going cross-eyed staring at it and trying to decide which way is right.

Do I purl then carry the yarn counter clock-wise (half-way round) to the back and knit the stitch from that position? Or should I purl then carry my yarn clockwise (all the way around the right kneedle and to the back again) and knit from there?

I'm kind of a novice, so the end result looks the same to me, but I'm afraid it's going to make a difference on down the line.

Thanks for any assistance you can offer!!

You can do either, the first option will give you a smaller yo than wrapping it completely round the needles does, so it's really up to you. Does the pattern have a pic that goes along with it, how prominent are the yo's on the design?

Thanks so much for your answer, and WHEW was that ever fast!!!

I have a picture, but it's not big enough to help out. It's a relief to know I can go either way with it.

Thanks again. You were a huge help!!
