Stiches under the sleeve
Hello,

I am knitting a top in the round and have begun from the neck according to the pattern. I have now reached the opening for the arms so the work must now be divided in front and back:
I knit 58 stiches for the back, then decrease 32 stiches for the armopening and then the pattens says:

(forgive my incorrect english knitting-terms, I hope you understand)

Increase 6 stiches under the armopening. Increase where, and how?

It seems from the pattern that when I am done with the round I will have 2 x 6 more stiches (one set for each arm) but I can't figure out where the 6 stiches should be increased; Before the armopening? After? should there be more than 58 stiches for the front and the back when I have increased these 2 x 6 stiches? Is it not untill the next round...? But the next thing in the pattern is "knit the next 58 stiches for the front and then decrease for the other arm.."

I hope someone can make sense of this and please help me?

Thank you
Katrine

You're not increasing, but casting on more stitches for the underarm. It will be when you come to the point where you bound off the 32 stitches for the opening. Then knit across the next 58 stitches for the front and CO 6 more. The extra stitches will be on the next round you knit.

If you're not sure how to cast on in the middle of a piece, go to the cast on section and look up knitted, cable or backwards loop castons.
