I am wanting to make Elizabeth Zimmerman's Tomten jacket. I have the pattern in the Knitter's Workshop . It says "The prototype is done on 112 stitches, and by varying wool thickness and needle size,(and by using your brain) it can fit from baby to slender adult. " It makes no mention of how much yarn yarn is needed. I want to make this for my nephew who is 18 months. I want it to be a summer weight, cotton or cotton blend. Any Suggestions on approx. yardage, needle size? I guess I'm looking for someone who has made one in a similar size. Thanks!!

Yeah, this is a problem with a lot if not all of her patterns. You could maybe find a pattern of a similar size and get an idea from that. If it's garter stitch then it will require a little more, too.
