Instruction help?
Here are my instructions for the slippers I'm making:

Bind off 9 sts beg of next 2 rows- 10 sts remain. Work in Garter st on rem sts until 2 1/2 above bind-off sts. Bind off rem 10 sts.

This all started with 34 sts cast on. I know I have to bind off 9 stitches but I'm confused about the directions that follow all the rest of it. the 'beg of next 2 rows - 10 remain' because that leaves extra stitches (?). I understand that Garter is the knit stitch done over on the rem until I'm that far from the bind-offs and then to bind off the remaining 10 sts.

Can anyone help me??
TIA,
~Simone

It sounds like a mistake in the pattern. If you bind of 9 stitches twice, you'll take away 18 from the 34, leaving you with 16.

Did you miss some increases along the way, possibly?

**UPDATE**
Ingrid,
I was mistaken it was:

Bind off 12 sts beg of next 2 rows- 10 sts remain. Work in Garter st on rem sts until 2 1/2 above bind-off sts. Bind off rem 10 sts.

Now how do I bind of the next two rows or how do I start/finish shaping the heel of the slipper?

I would bind off the same as you have done then continue following the pattern.

That's where I'm confused. I know I bind off 12 but then do I do a bind-off on 12 stitches BEHIND the row I just did? And then continue doing the Garter stitch for how ever long until I finally bind those off?

On the first row, you bind off 12 stitches, then knit (or purl, or whatever) the remaining stitches in that row. Then on the next row, you bind off the first 12 stitches and knit (or whatever) the remaining stitches, which should be 10 stitches. Then you garter stitch those 10 stitches until you have knitted 2 1/2", then bind off the last 10 stitches.

Since you knit back and forth, the first row will bind off 12 stitches on the right, then the next row will bind off 12 stitches on the left, leaving you with the 10 stitches in the middle of the row.

Make sense?

LOL don't worry about it, it took me a while to figure that one out on a pattern I did!
