Stitch count is off, HELP

I'm knitting the Mon Petit Chou from Knitty. Here's the problem: I'm making the largest size which has you CO 111 sts w/ an invisible CO. After some rows of knitting and creating eyelets, you purl the working edge sts tog with the CO edge sts. This creates a lovely little scallop edge. Well, 14 sts from the CO are put on a st holder for later, the corresponding 15 sts from the working edge are purled. So am I correct in thinking that there will still be 111 sts on the working edge? Becuase I counted the next (and all subsequent) row sts, and there are only 95.

Here's an excerpt from the pattern:
Remove scrap yarn from CO and transfer these 78[94, 110] sts to smaller dpn or circular needle.
Row 6: Hold the needle at the top of the work in your left hand. Fold the bottom needle up towards you. The smooth stockinette side should be on the outside of the work.
P the first stitch on the the "top" needle tog with the first st on the "bottom" needle. You will end up with just one st on your right needle.
Rep 31[39, 47] times, slip the next 14 sts from the bottom needle onto a st holder or scrap yarn [you should have 32[40, 48] sts left], p the 15 sts from the top needle, p tog the rest of the sts as for the beg of this row.
Row 7 [RS]: P1, k1, yo, k2tog, ssk, k2, yo, *k1, yo, k2, vd, k2, yo, rep from * 2[3, 4] times, k1, yo, k2, k2tog, k1, ssk, yo, k2, ssk, k2, yo, k1 *yo, k2, vd, k2, yo, k1, rep from * 2[3, 4] times, yo, k2, k2tog, ssk, yo, k1, p1.

Do you know what I'm not understanding? Or is there an error in the pattern?

Do you know what I'm not understanding? Or is there an error in the pattern?

If you ptog the first 47 stitches, then slip 14, p across 15, then ptog 48, as the pattern suggests, then you end up with 110. 95 OTN and 15 on stitch holder.

Sorry, but I'm still confused, because when I purl across the 15 sts, they're on the needle, so I keep ending up with 110 sts on the needle, instead of 95.

I purl a st off the top needle tog with a st off the bottom needle 47 times, then I purl across 15, then p tog as before 48 times, for a total of 110 live sts on the needle.
Am I maybe supposed to transfer the 15 purled sts to a st holder too?

Nope you're right. You have 110 on the needle. Let me look at the pattern again......

Okay, so the stitches on the holder are going to become the flap that goes under your girlie parts. I see that now. The rest is worked back and forth.

What about the pattern makes you think you are only supposed to have 95 stitches/

Thanks for all the help. i feel like I'm being a royal pain.
I counted the sts in the next and subsequent rows, and there are only 95 sts. See Row 7 above. I've tried knitting it too, in case I counted incorrectly, but I always end up with extra sts on the needle.

Yeah, it's weird because the pattern has corrections in it, so we know it's been knit by people who didn't have a problem with this part. I am going to go look at it again.

Okay, don't shoot me. I count 111 sitches. Here is how it breaks down:

8 sts, and then 8 stitches 5 times (48 so far), then 15, then 8 stitches 5 times, then 8 stitches, for a total of 111.

I think you either aren't doing the repeats correctly when you knit it, or you aren't counting them the right way when you are reading the pattern? I can break it down more for you if you want?

I feel bashful. I was reading it that I do from *to* a total of 4 times, not once, and then again 4 times, for a total of 5 times. It did cross my mind that the instructions should say five times. Hee hee

Thank you so much for wading through this with me. Is that the normal way to interpret instructions like that? I guess I've only done 'repeat from *to* to last x sts'.

These are all the same problems I had (still have ) when I started knitting. I love to figure these problems out!
