knitting with 2 balls of yarn to eliminate pooling???

OK i am knitting some pants for my baby with hand dyed yarn. I am knititng hte waistband with one ball of yarn but want to alternate rows once i get to the body to eliminate pooling. How do i go about starting the second ball on the needles?? like how do i work it in? thanks so much

I would just start knitting with it and weave in the end later. You can also knit a few stitches with the main yarn and tail to secure it. Or, if it's wool, you can felt the ends together.
