Silly boy.
One of my guy friends (who I'm pretty sure has a crush on me) was talking to me about knitting tonight. He was asking me all sorts of questions and feigning interest. I suppose he could have genuinely been interested, but I don't really think so. Anyway, back to the story, he's asking me questions, and he says "okay, so you take the crochet needles and you do this..." at which point he begins to make this strange gesture that looks somewhat like he was mixing a salad with those really big forks that people use. I just shook my head.

He's got so much to learn. ESPECIALLY if he really does have a crush on me. Hehe

That is exactly how my daughter pretends to knit. I've begun to teach her and she still insists on holding the needles like she's tossing a salad.

That's exactly how my five year old knits! Maybe they should form a club of tangle-makers.

I'm sure there would be several different styles. The salad tossing technique (as mentioned above), the pulling the skein the wrong way technique, and of course, free form. I could see it now! The debates on the best method could get really intense like our continential vs. English!

That's cute. It sounds like he's trying to knit the way they always show knitting in cartoons. You know, it's never quite right, the knitting in cartoons, I mean. You should offer to teach him to knit, just to see what he says.

I think if I offered to teach him to knit, he would take me up on the offer, which I think is pretty darn cute, too. He already asks me about yarn and the projects I'm working on.

You should definitely teach hi to knit! Never hurts to get someone else addicted along with you.
