Slip Stitch Seaming?

I'm making the oven mitt in the knitpicks pattern hot out of the oven and for seaming the thumb it says, "using the leftover yarn from the long tail cast on at the inside thumb, slip stitch together the inside base of the thumb and the inside of the hand."

How exactly do you do that?

It's a crochet seam, you hook your yarn into the space, and crochet slip stitches through both layers of fabric. Continue until you finish. Does that make sense? If you're not a crocheter, you could probably do a backstitch and it would be okay.

Thanks! I'm not a crocheter, so that's probably why I've never heard of it before. I tried it, but the seam didn't look very well, so I did my own version of the backstitch. It looks a lot better, and I'm sure it won't make a difference once it is felted.

No it won't. Felting hides anything you don't want people to see. I'm glad I could help!
