Wonderful Wallaby - Help PLEASE!

Hi everyone,
this is my first attempt at a sweater, and I'm still a pretty new knitter, so probably not the best project to go with, but anyway....
I'm finishing up the body and there is a line of pattern i just don't understand!
It says,
"K acr fron over to right underarm, (as if you are wearing the sweater). End at right underarm. Place a pin at top of sweater next to right underarn to designate a new beg of rnd point."

The part in bold is where I'm confused. It doesn't say what stitch specifically to mark, and in a hand drawn diagram of this step, it shows the pin pretty far from the underarm, so i'm just so confused!
Is it one stitch away? Eight? However many I feel like? Does it matter?

I seem to recall that there are 8 underarm stitches in this sweater, 4 on each side of the underarm. Does it make sense to have the pin 4 from the actual center of the underarm?
