if the needle sizes for a sweater are 6 & 8, but there are 7 stitches and 6 rows per inch do you think I use fingering or dk yarn?

This table should help you be able to figure out what type of yarn to use.

Does the pattern have a suggested yarn? If so, you can look it up on Yarndex to find out what size yarn that is.

Be sure to check your gauge before you start!

Good luck!
