Here's a community campaign to provide blankets to seniors in Nursing Homes. The woman that started this is truly amazing.

Handmade lap blankets needed for Seniors in Nursing Homes on the Eastside (king County) in Washington during the Holiday Season!

Can a simple act of kindness change one person's life? - Yes it can!
Many seniors in nursing homes are alone, without family and without some holiday cheer. Please help us make a difference in the lives of Seniors in Washington Nursing Homes, by donating a hand knitted or crocheted wrap (lap blanket) as a holiday gift to Acknowledge, Remember and Honor them during the holiday season

Deadline: December 10th
Size: no larger than 5 x 5 ft
Colors preferred: Warm colors – no black please
Must be machine washable!

Recovery Buddies is a nonprofit organzation, started by a person in recovery from an eating disorder, that sends "buddies" (knited pillows with names and information) to people in recovery from addictions, such as drug addictions or eating disorders. you can make a buddie or sponsor a buddie.

My brother & his wife are a Pastor & they give these garments to the poor with a christian booklet. They visit the hospital to give them. A lot of babies go home from the maternity hospital wrapped in newspaper or a towel. Thay don't own any clothes for them.

Forever Warm was created to provide parents of stillborn children with a blanket that they can wrap their children in for pictures and/or burial. Parents are also given the choice to keep the blanket as a personal keepsake to remember their child.

We now donate to NICUs as well as OB wards. I'm currently in the process of recruiting hospitals in the Greater Indianapolis Area for my local chapter. Included in this list is Riley Children's Hospital Level III Nicu and the St. Vincent Women's Hospital OB and NICU wards.

I plan on making my next donation in December 2009 and then again in March 2010. I donate to the hospitals in person. If you would like to donate a blanket please pm me. Thank you

We knit, crochet & sew chemo caps for people who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy treatment, burns, surgeries of other injuries.
