I ordered enough Shine Worsted for a child's sweater based on colors shone online. I chose Crocus which looks like a pretty medium purple. The actual yarn is closer to maroon! Has anyone else had this problem or is it something to do with the setting of my computer?
I have found that some of their colors seem much different IRL than on the monitor. But I really don't think anyone is to blame. All monitors are so different. I'm thinking of investing in the color cards. Small investment to ensure I am getting what I want.

I had that happen with that particular yarn, and then I ordered all the color cards for all their yarns. I have used all of Knit Picks yarns, and it only seemed to happen to me with that yarn, but it probably has something to do with the monitor settings.

CONGRATULATIONS TO AMY AND SHELDON ON THE BIRTH OF THEIR DAUGHTER!
I've had that happen to me, not just with KP yarn. They do their best to make the colors accurate but you just have to realize that the color may be off when you're ordering it online do to different settings on different computer.
That can happen easily and it's not the websites fault. Each monitor is different and the camera they take photos with can affect the color as well. I think the color card idea is the best thing to do to be sure. ;-)
When asking questions ALWAYS post the name and a link for the pattern if you have it.
The only one that really surprised me was the Sunflower color. Somehow it showed up as a gaudy gold tone, not the warm yellow I expected. I'm not sure if I'll still use it as the waistband color on my other summer jumper.

Knitting for baby - those little things fly off the needles!
I'm doing a sweater in crocus. I used a color card to choose it. But one wisp of a color sample is nothing to a massive amount. I don't think it's maroon, more of a fuscia-lots of pink tone in the purple. I think it almost matches the purple knit picks cable needle.
