Different yarn for Ella?
I would like to knit Ella http://www.knitty.com/issuefall05/PATTella.html for my mother who lives in an assisted living center. But I don't want to use the Lady Godiva silk/wool, because I want it to be hand washable. Any suggestions as to a yarn that would knit up nicely in this pattern, but still be fairly easy care? Thanks.

You could probably use Plymouth Encore. It's machine washable and has nice colors.
