Does anyone have a pattern for a shrug?

I am work down to the second cuff now on my first shrug Only thing is my knitting instructor didn't have a pattern for this shrug. She is in the process of making one up, but that doesn't help me much right now!!!

When I started the shrug she had me begin with knitting the cuff down and then knit the shrug on circular needles. I got about 1/4 through this when I noticed the cuff ribbing got twisted so She took the cuff off for me and I started knitting the cuff back on only this time knitting down from the knitted shrug to the end of the cuff. It came out so nice......only when the instructor but all of the sts back on the circular's she turned the work to the wrong side and I didn't know it until I had completed the cuff

She said it would be fine and now class is over until fall and I have no clue on what to do on the other cuff now. I took everything down from 96 sts to 48 by k2tog on the last row.Then I started my k2,p2 ribbing but it doesn't look right should I just keep working on the cuff? will it look like it should after a few rows????


Does anyone have a pattern for a shrug??

I have a few patterns for shrugs. You haven't mentioned what one you are using or if you intend to start again from scratch?

What do you mean by doesn't look right? Could you be doing seed stitch by mistake?

I am making one now that is about 60in long 24in wide with a 7in cuff.

but the instructor has no pattern for it but is going to make one up...don't know when though?

It looks funny because the instructor cut the cuff off and I redid it but she got the public side turned the wrong way when she set it all back on the needles for me. so at the end of the knitting and the begining of the ribbing it looks a tad different.

Nanaof6, if you go to this website www.patterncentral.com and then go to their patterns, they have a whole section on nothing but shrugs, maybe you can find one that is similar and use that pattern!

How frustrating! There are lots of shrug patterns out there - I'm working on this one http://www.stitchdiva.com/ProductInf...ductid=SDS-020 at the moment. I also have this collection of patterns http://www.amazon.com/Little-Box-Kni...0445744&sr=1-2 which is really good.

Can you post a picture of what's happening with your cuff? We might be of more help if we could see what is going wrong. Theoretically, at least, it shouldn't matter what side you're knitting the ribbing from, since it looks the same from the front and the back (check the ribbed edging on a sweater and you'll see what I mean).

Thanks to everyone, I kept working the cuff and it came out just fine. I guess I should use the username of 'Boo' everything scares me right now when I knit alone! I'll post a pic of the shrug when I am done. Where do you post pictures here?
