Shawl for 1,250 laceweight yarn

I have a skein of Helen's Lace in Jeans at home waiting to be knit into something. It's approxiamtely 1,250 yards of laceweight in silk and wool.

Any ideas on shawls that you would make with this yarn?

The yarn is in blues and browns and I seem to have a hard time seeing what patterns would fit a non-solid yarn. I don't want it to be too busy for the eyes with a yarn that works against the lace pattern, but I also don't want anything too mind-numbing or boring.

I was thinking this might end up being a birthday or Christmas gift for my mother.

Knitpicks has a few shawls where they don't use a solid.. you won't have enough yardage for some.. but you could make them smaller...

The knitting zone has a ton of shawl patterns where I buy most of mine..
Also if you can get the book Victorian Lace it has some really pretty patterns in it.. I haven't been able to decide which I will do first..
Elann also has a lot of free shawl patterns you might be able to find something there..

I also google Helen Lace's Shawl and found several blogs and patterns that were used.. they all turned out very pretty.. the colors didn't take away from the pattern at all... I can't wait to see what you decide on.. so many patterns out there I wanna do...

I've got the Victorian lace today book, and there are several patterns in there that would work. A few sites and patterns I love... the Hidcote Garden Shawl is just gorgeous.... I'm on the next to last chart right now. By the same designer, the Icarus Shawl is a bit less challenging. Fiddlesticks knitting shawls are just gorgeous- the peacock feathers are my favorite! The two Knitpicks patterns I like most are the Janet shawl and the Rona lace shawl. I've made Rona and I love it! Hopefully that gives you some ideas.... if you need more- I've got more links!!

I just about looking at all those wonderful design. I've bookmarked pages to return to!

When I saw the Diamond Fantasy Shawl, I knew that was the one I needed to make. I've seen it before but had forgotten about it.

Casted on yesterday evening and am so far very happy with my choice!

Thanks again, I now have maaaany ideas for future shawls!

I don't have specific experience with all these lace patterns but my general advice would be
1: choose a motif/ a shape in the pattern that is incredibly clear and simple: anything subtle at all will be obscured by the colour changes. This might mean something quite geometric, like simple columns of eyelets, although I see that's not exactly what you want.

2: if you choose a triangular pattern with increases, remember that starting from the bottom and increasing to get wider, each colour repeat will be narrower.
