Have you seen the Yarn Harlot?
I'm planning to drive 1 1/2 to 2 hours to see her next week in Petaluma (and hopefully taking my mom with me!), but I'm just curious if anyone can give me an idea how much time to expect to spend at the event.

I'm guessing maybe a couple of hours -- and I'd love to get the chance to actually talk to Stephanie McPhee -- but don't want to be driving home after midnight.

Any info would be much appreciated!

I don't know since I haven't seen her, but I would love to! I read her blog every day!

I don't know either but make sure you come back and report all the details. She is coming to WEBS, but that is a bit of a drive for me. I'm bummed about that. But I did hear a rumor that she will be not too far south from me (maybe 20 minutes)! It isn't posted on her tour dates yet though.

Have fun! I would say maybe a couple hours between the talk and signings.

I wish! But what are the chances of her coming to Germany?

From what I've read about her public appearances, she'll give a talk and then she'll sign books...and the line could be really long for that. So if you really want to say hi to her and/or have her sign a book and you don't manage to get close to the front of the line, then maybe you can ask the people in line whether you can cut in front of them because you have a long drive home. Knitters are known to be nice people! :rofling:

I am driving 2 hours to go see her at the WEBS event and their website said that she will talk for an hour and then take questions from the audience then go back to WEBS to sign books. From what I hear its going to be a big event because they originally had it booked at the Clarion Hotel and Conference center which only held 350 or so people and now its at the Calvin Theater which hold (gasp)1000 people!! If its anything like the event that she had in NYC which had over 700 people then its going to be a while before I get out of there! Thats why I reserved a room at the hotel because I dont want to be driving after all that plus I want to go shopping at WEBS and if there is to many people to do that on Wed night then I can do it on Thursday morning.

Amy and I will be there tonight. The event is free but remember to register at webs' website: http://yarn.com/s/events.html as seating is limited to about 1000 at the Calvin.

Hope to see some of you there!

I saw her at the lexington festival of books and after the talk there was a knit along. For signing, talk, possible knit, I would plan about 3 hours there.

Thanks for the responses!

I'm waiting for more info to come up on the book store's web site. I'm not sure how big the place is, but I wonder how many knitters may drive up from San Francisco to see her -- it might be a pretty big turnout, which would naturally mean longer lines, more time, etc.

Either way, I'm excited but still not 100% sure I'm going to be able to go. If I do I'll post a report.

Thanks again, all.

I'd love to see her sometime. From everything I read it says GO EARLY to get a seat at all.
