"Yarn vomit" happens to us all at one time or another. If you look at the skein, there is one end into which the outer strand is tucked --or if it's out, where it would be tucked into. I've found that the other end is where the yarn has a chance of coming out. I just reach in a pinch and hope for the best. If I get a clump, I just wrap it around the rest of the ball and carry on.
