Need 1 yard of ruby glitterspun

I knit several pairs of ruby red baby slippers, and thought I had enough left on my "Glitterspun" yarn to finish another pair, but it turns out I am about 1 yard short. The Michaels where I bought it is about a 45 minute drive from me, and I had found it in a bargain basket about 6 months ago, so there probably are no more. Do you think if I unravel the booties and use a size smaller needle that I would have enough to finish a complete pair ? I don't like duplicating my efforts, but what else is there ?

And as I was grumbling to myself, I remembered I had used some to decorate Christmas packages. Grrrrr.
