I am planning on knitting the collared tank from Knit Simple Spring Summer 2007. I saw "Cotton Ease" at Michaels...and I know it will be a lot cheaper. However, it's not 100% cotton like the Cotton Classic by Tahki yarns that the pattern calls for. The Cotton Classic is a 1 3/4 oz./50 g skein approx 108 yds with a 20 sts and 28 rows to 4" gauge? Do you think the Cotton Ease is an appropriate subsitute..or do you know of anything better that won't cost an arm and a leg?

----------------------- -On the Needles:
1. Simply Ginny Socks (1 complete)
2. Classic Wool Socks (1 complete)
3. Stag Bag (on the back...don't want to do the st st)
4. Five Easy Cables Blanket (1 of 8 skeins used) -On the Hook:
1. Mantilla Lace Doily (I forgot where I am on this)
The Cotton Ease is 50% cotton, 50% acrylic; 3.5 ox/100 gram, 207 yds, med weight yarn.

It sounds like the 2 are comparable, I'm using cotton ease right now and love it. Just play around with the gauge. Since the cotton ease ise 17 sts to 4" you just might need to usea smaller needle to get the same gauge. Or, if like me you knit very tightly, it will probably be the same.Hope this helps!
I'm knitting the same tank and using a COMPLETELY different yarn (Amaizing - corn fiber yarn). The most important thing is that you get gauge. I think that Cotton Ease would be fine Post pics when you are done!
