Gorgeous Yarn Holder!!
Hello All!!!
I had to share the gorgeous yarn holder that my sweetie and I won on Ebay, it arrived today this is a vintage Bex (bakelite, I believe) wool holder. Notice the gorgeous detail on the top! This makes my 2nd Bex (other one is green....I must have more, LOL!) and 9th yarn holder! As long as I'm showing, this is the one that arrived last week (also from my Honey, we were almost bidding against one another, LOL!) along with Lonnie's newest socks, these will be for Father's Day, although he's not my dad, he is a great dad and I have to honor for that!
I am hopelessly addicted to collecting yarn, well most of them are called "wool" holders! They are gorgeous and so functional! They certainly are prettier than carrying my yarn in a ziploc bag! I'll be using this one tomorrow, WWKIP Day as I continue to work on Lonnie's socks, some of this KIP will be at my daughter's recital....among other places....must remember to get camera batteries!

Pretty cool. I've never seen anything like those before.

I've looked on ebay for them and never seen any.
What key words do you use to search for them?

Mason, they are vintage, so you won't find them out in yarn shops.
Steph, you have to be specific. The majority of them come from the UK. I use these key words: (bex, bakelite) (wool, yarn, string) holder
And then sometimes "yarn holder" or "wool holder" or "string holder" You really have to dig around to find them, but it's worth it! It was my goal to have 2 of each design, well, not I've decided that I want 3 or each design (well, the designs I like .... which are most of them!). Also, they are small, each of these will hold 50 gr of sock yarn, they don't hold much yarn. Still, I knit socks all of the time and they are BEAUTIFUL to look at and a wonderful hobby in collecting vintage knitting accessories! There are these, too. and bakelite needles and boxes, all sorts of fun things!

I had a search on ebay, cause these are cool - there are some quite scary ones out there too it seems! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vintage-Chalkw...QQcmdZViewItem But then, I'm scared of dolls and puppets and things, so maybe only scares me ;-)

LOL, I thought the same thing about bidding against one another, but I couldn't not tell snephanie the key words...LOL, I thought about not doing it for a brief second, LOL, but changed my mind much quicker, LOL!!!

OMGosh, willowangel, I am PETRIFIED of freaky little dolls (chuckie) and dolls with the eyes rolled back in their heads because they look eyeless and don't even get me started on puppets like that one that was in that old movie Magic!!! Oh, and then there are the dead twin girls in the Shining that say "come play with us forever" or something like that in the movie!!!!
I can't even look at commercials about such things and if we are in a store that has a Chuckie doll Lonnie tells me when he sees it so I can avoid it...or sometimes he doesn't because it's funny because I'm all freaky about it.....so, in other words...you are preaching to the choir!!!!!!!

I think it's really lovely and when I see such things I send a 'thanks' to the heavens to the previous owner(s) who took such good care of the items. It's really a heirloom piece in a way. Fantastic buy!
