Keeping an even tension in Intarsia

Hello,

Hope someone here has some advice for me! I have just finished
my first intarsia project and I noticed that my tension at the color
change points is uneven, some stitches loose and some quite tight.
Everywhere else the tension is even so it is obviously just the act of
dropping one color and picking up the other that is throwing me off.
Does anyone have any tips for avoiding this or is it just a newbie
problem solved with lots of practice?

Even tension comes with experience and practice. Just keep knitting, and you'll get better. Just try not to pull the yarn too tightly or too loose at the color joins.

Yup, just cross the yarns when you switch colors, and as you make the next stitch, you can kind of watch how tight you want to go with it. It'll come.
