Scotchguarding Felting?

Has anyone ever scotchguarded (or similar) a felted item like a rug? How did you find the process etc..?? Tips welcome.

I scotchguarded my booga bag. It did not damage the wool. I don't know if it kept it any cleaner, but I like to think it did.

Thanks..well..it should make it easier to clean/repel marks and that's what I will be seeking from scotchguarding a felted rug (once I complete it) ..I just wondered if it had affected the yarn so I appreciated your reply.
